Margaret moved to Bundeena fulfilling a life-long dream to connect with nature by living as close as possible to the bush. Margaret's inspiration is the natural world. She draws and paints in direct response to the forms of nature.
As a child she spent many weekends with her biologist father on Port Hacking, exploring the Curra Moors and walking the Coastal Track while he pointed out the vast riches of flora and fauna in the Park and the intricate worlds to be found in rockpools and coastal ecosystems.
Margaret is a highly respected artist with many years experience creating and exhibiting bodies of work. She is also a professional art educator with experience teaching a range of students including infants, children and adults.
She gained a Bachelor of Visual Arts from Sydney College of Advanced Education in 1986 and a Graduate Diploma in Professional Art Studies from the College in 1987. She also obtained a Graduate Diploma in Education from Sydney University in 1990 and in 2005 she was awarded a Master of Creative Arts with Distinction from the University of Wollongong.
Margaret has held many solo exhibitions and has been included in numerous group shows including The Blake Prize for Religious Art Touring Exhibition, The Fishers Ghost Art Award Exhibition and the Hazelhurst Art on Paper Award Exhibition. In 1987 she was awarded the NSW Travelling Art Scholarship and in 1988 travelled to South America where she created a body of work responding to life in a foreign country.
From 2006 to 2009 she ran an Art School at Como and Sutherland, teaching drawing and painting to over 80 students including a variety of weekly classes and weekend workshops.
Margaret continues to produce artwork in a variety of media in her Bundeena studio, drawing on inspiration from the National Park and surrounds. She participates in the Bundeena and Maianbar Art Trail on the first Sunday of every month.
